Neon promotes Angus Wilson to Head of Marine

Effective from 30th September, Angus will hold this position in addition to his existing role as Class Underwriter for Marine Hull & War and will continue to report to Darren Lednor, Chief Underwriting Officer.

Angus will be responsible for leading the dedicated team of six experienced professionals including ‎Cargo Class Underwriter Alistair Marriott, who joined Neon last year from QBE. In this new role, Angus will be charged with growing the Neon Marine portfolio which includes products such as cargo, shipbuilding and offshore construction, marine liability and marine hull & war.

With over 25 years of experience, predominantly writing marine hull business alongside other marine classes, Angus brings to the role an outstanding depth of expertise and breadth of understanding in Marine insurance.

Having previously held roles at Ascot, XL (Brockbank) and Chaucer, Angus joined the business in 2009 and this role represents a logical next step in the development of both his career and of the Marine business at Neon.

Martin Reith, Chief Executive Officer, Neon, commented:

“We have identified Marine as a key area of long-term growth for Neon as we move the business forward, and see significant scope to expand our offering in this space. I am therefore delighted to appoint Angus to this new role; he has the right credentials and commitment to support our ambition of becoming a leading player in the Marine market.

“With his strong relationships and exceptional levels of technical and industry expertise, Angus’ appointment is testament to the level of talent within the business and Neon’s aim to grow by promoting internal expertise while also recruiting high-calibre individuals from the market.”
